It's a baking Sunday for me. Macarons for the earlier part of the day and I got sponge cake written on the docket for later. So yes...lots of egg whites to be
Macarons have been something that I've been eyeing for the longest time. But i have egg whites fear and I've been steering away from any form of baking that requires me to beat the egg whites until it gets all fluffy. Don't ask me why the phobia, because I honestly can't recall what triggered it.
Rima from Bisous À Toi is hosting this giveaway contest with Mastrad Macarons sheet awaits the selected winner. What better motivation to confront the skeleton in the closet than the Macarons sheet! So I aged my egg whites and get all prepped up for macarons baking. When I was lining all the ingredients, tomy disappointment, I was short of 30gm of confectioner sugar. But I decided
not to let that stop me and went ahead with the macarons whipping. When I put my babies in the oven, after what seems to be a very long wait, the feet starts showing.
That sure did make me happy. Moments later, my babies started to crack. I was like - Tsk!... that sure is a heartbreaker!
But I have to say, all in all, it was worth the try and thank you Rima for indirectly nudging me to give macarons a try. I will surely be baking my second batch tomorrow. But first, I need to head off to the market to buy me some sugar.
